An puzzle tactics game originally created for Global Game Jam 2024 Online
Theme : Make me laugh

Sir Jesterheart searches for the ultimate joke to help his king overcome his grief over his daughter's death.

Your objective in each map is to reach the white tile on the right.
You always start at the left side of the map.

When you move to another tile you encounter said tile.
If the tile contain:

  • an enemy (marked by the red background) you automatically battle the enemy each dealing its attack to the other until either the enemy or you are dead.
  • a key you gains +1 key. Keys are needed to unlock chest tiles.
  • a chest and you have a key you unlock the chest (losing 1 key) and gain +1 in all your stats, otherwise the chest blocks your movement.
  • a magic oak you recover 4 health when you move to this tile.

You cannot move to a previously visited tile so be carefull not to block your access to the objective tile!
You can hover the mouse cursor on top of a tile for more info.
(TODO) Enemy tiles show the their basic stats on the tile (attack power on the left, health on the right)

Controls:

W,A,S,D or Arrow Keys - Move the Knight
Space or E - Start game, close message popups
Q - Return to Main Menu
Hover over map icons with the mouse to see more info

Another tiny bug: the Boar(?)-Card is labelled as "Dwarf". ;-)

There is potential for a softlock that I think I've discovered:

The game seems to check every turn, if you have adjacent tiles to go to, and if there are none, it prompts a gameover. However, if all adjacent tiles are treasure chests, but you don't have a key, the game doesn't recognize that it's effectively a gameOver and you have to refresh the page to restart.

You can use Q to return to main menu instead of refreshing (which also works in the downloaded version)

Love this!

Could totally imagine this as a physical board/cardgame. Have yet to beat it but I'm determined to make it. Made it to the Witch once, already.

The game is under development with plan to add all the original regions that were cut! 2 are in the current jam version with further 3 regions to be added in the next post jam update next month.
I think the mountains region was made a little too difficult in the jam version so maybe decrease a little the difficulty in that region.
